About US

Community Mobilization for Positive Empowerment, (COMPE) is local -based NGO registered in Kenya under the Kenya NGO act with registration number OP.218/ 051/12-0792/8650. COMPE is dedicated to creating lasting transformation in the lives of women, youth and children and the entire community.(COMPE) coins its name from a desire to mobilize the community to develop local capacities to improve the socio-economic position of the beneficiaries to free them from the three major forms of vulnerability namely: transitory related to livelihood shocks which affect economically active groups , chronic related to  life cycle events e. g  old age, orphan hood, widowhood, disability  and structural related to market failures, seasonal unemployment, political marginalization, social exclusion.

Our strategic areas of operations are Economic Empowerment and Livelihoods, Girl Child Education, Agriculture Environmental Conservation and Food Security, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WATSAN) & HIV/AIDS Awareness.

COMPE has board of directors composed of 9 members 6 female and 3 male below the board the project team composed of the Programs Director who is also the Board secretary, project coordinators in charge of different programs, Finance and Administration officer, Field coordinators, support staff and volunteers who are in direct contact with the community members.

Broad Objectives and Key Activities

  1. To strengthen women and female youth engagement in sustainable community empowerment initiatives for long term poverty reduction among households through Participatory Integrated Community Development (PICD) and Community Conversations(CC) 

Key activities

  • To promote the well-being of the girl child at all levels of society.
  • To mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDs scourge among the vulnerable population in Western Kenya region.
  • To improve social enterprising among  women groups , marginalized families for sustainable economic growth.
  1. .To builds the capacities of CBOs and self-help groups to enable them enhance the use of appropriate technologies in Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WATSAN) at household levels.

Key activities 

  • Promote the health and well-being of the residents of urban slums through adaptation of appropriate technologies in water and sanitation.
  • Enhance campaigns on Water Sanitation and Hygiene among the residents along lake Victoria.
  • Promote community dialogues among communities regardless of age, ethnic origin, ability, sex, belief or political affiliation, recognizing the value of our diversity
  1. To establish partnership linkage collaboration and networking with relevant stakeholders in order to improve livelihoods of under-served communities
